My good friend John Fishwick was into Tai Chi back in the early 1990s. He was from Bolton and had moved down to Basingstoke to work for IBM. He invited me to go see the Dalai Llama speak in London. It was the last in a series of three lectures The Dalai Llama was giving up at Wembley Arena. It was all about Nirvana, and how that is, in fact, a state of pure nothingness. It was interesting, but I couldn’t really understand it after a while, and I couldn’t help nodding off. I woke up for the Q&A, possible now under the Dailai Llama’s hypnotic spell. I don’t remember much of it now, but I left feeling uplifted and charmed by the man, and will always be grateful for the experience of having been to listen to him.
Anyway, I’m sure that sort of thing can’t be good for America.
