Hi Folks

Halloween is on the way, and it’s time to start thinking about what to wear when you’re out on the streets this year. So, here is a little post to highlight a couple of items in my Redbubble store that might fit the bill:

First up is Kandy Corn:

A goofy little design I made for no apparent reason, but if you can’t be bothered with a proper halloween costume, then all you need is this T-shirt!

Now here are a couple of designs featuring characters from “Grave Business”, a boardgame that I illustrated for Minion Games:

Zombie Cheerleader:

She’s green and she’s grisly and she’s hoping your defense doesn’t fall apart.

I want my Mummy

This chap loves to get into accidents, mostly with your face.

Where's my Mummy?

Finally, scariest of all is Donald Hump! From the “Different Donalds” Collection. Frankly, I’m not sure of you can handle this one…:

Sci-Fi San Francisco

This is the cover to “Sci-Fi San Francisco”, a new anthology of 20 comics set in the future of our fair city. It’s from Skodaman Press who published “The Comic Book Guide to the Mission” a few years back. This one hae been a while in the making, but it looks like publisher Lauren Davis has done an incredible job of putting together the work of some fantastic local comic creators. Check it out here:

Here are some pictures of me at the California Academy of Sciences, in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. I am drawing pollinators for the kids, as part of the Academy’s annual Spring Festival, in my capacity as illustrator for GeoTots. Now I know what it is like to be an exhibit at the zoo!

Geo Tots is eco-education for children. Fun play, based in real life science. We were invited by the Academy to demo our game, Bee Amazed!, to Academy visitors on six consecutive weekends in March and April.

Bee Amazed! teaches young children about the importance of bees and the different roles bees play in the honey hive. The bees were designed in consultation with renowned bee-expert John Hafernik.

Bee Amazed! is for children aged 2-8. It is available now as a free download on Android, iTunes, Kindle and other devices. We also have a big new update in production.

While on vacation in Mendocino County last week, I was delighted to discover a fantastic new game store in Fort Bragg called “BlaqkDoor”. It is a very modern start-of-the-art game and comic shop with an excellent selection of the latest boardgames, comics, video games and collectibles.

The staff were all super friendly and helpful, and the owner, Scott, is a very likable guy, who I chatted to for ages about my favorite subjects: boardgames & comics.

I was glad to see he had a copy of Minion Games’ “Manhattan Project” on his shelves, but he obviously hadn’t heard about such other gems as “Those Pesky Humans”, “Tahiti”, “Grave Business”, “Nile” or “Battle Merchants”, not to mention the greatest boardgames of all time: “Legitimacy”. So, I rectified that fact by chewing his ear off for half-an-hour on the subject of how those all are far superior titles from the same publisher!

Anyway, now you have no excuse at all not to go to the Mendocino coast for you next weekend mini-break.
